A Sunflower in November

Sunflowers end up facing the sun, but they go through a lot of dirt to find their way there. – J R Rim

Setting aside the metaphysics, this giant sunflower is growing in a pot on my patio. I didn’t plant it. I feed the birds who come to my garden and one has picked up a sunflower seed from the bird table and dropped it into the plant pot, where it’s germinated. Climate change is an additional ingredient to the dirt it’s had to go find its way through to be about to bloom, in England, in November.
