I come across encouraging quotes all the time. And I certainly need courage, as an artist. I don’t know why I haven’t thought of sharing them before now. Here’s a first one. Some might not, but I find it encouraging, a source for some of my angst. There’s comfort to be had just in a correct diagnosis.
“Every creative person is a duality or a synthesis of contradictory aptitudes. On the one side he is a human being with a personal life, while on the other side he is an impersonal, creative process … To perform this difficult office it is sometimes necessary for him to sacrifice happiness and everything that makes life worth living for the ordinary human being.”
Carl Jung: Modern Man in Search of a Soul

Love Jung too! This quote particularly rings true. Thanks for reminding me of why I feel half insane most of the time.

The link was very interesting. Two names are still familiar to me from the time when we lived close to Hadrian’s Wall. I was brought up in Northumberland, though within the mining/shipbuilding community and era. My environment was closer to Van Gogh’s time in the Borinage (though it was not QUITE so bad!) The Northumbrian rural areas were for holidays and days’ out. I have a few studies of views from our house on Hadrian’s Wall. I will post them sometime. Thanks for the link! Ann

Art can also be ministry. Explains why it feels like a battle, most of the time!
