Had a song-hopping session with Christine (Hubbard International). Sing through one song in a book after another. Talk about vocal gymnastics. There are so many beautiful songs to sing! How to leave any out?
So I’m posting two I particularly enjoyed, in separate blogs. This is the incredible Marilyn Horne singing Handel’s I Know That My Redeemer Liveth. It is of course from Messiah and needs no introduction.
What a powerful and majestic voice! Would you believe that in her early career Marylin recorded covers of popular songs of the early 1950s, and which sold for $1.98 each? Born in Pennsylvania in 1934, she moved at 11 to Long Beach, California. Her big break came when asked by Igor Stravinsky to perform at the 1956 Venice Festival.
If you’re feeling down today, this will surely pick you up. If it doesn’t, you need to see your doctor. 🙂
Enjoy!
