What I’ve Been Singing This Week: Summertime (Gershwin)

I did manage to slip in a singing lesson this week, in between trips to the boatyard to scrub decks and strip paint.  This is the great Renee Fleming. Her voice reminds me of honey. And I’ve had it from someone who’s worked with her that she’s truly a nice person, not at all diva-ish.

I also launched myself at an aria from Handel‘s Messiah: If God be For Us, Who Can Be Against Us.  The lyrics are from Romans 8:31. Check out the fantastic rendition by the wonderful Emma Kirkby.
