What I’ve been singing this week: Lascia Ch’io Pianga (Handel)

One of my favourite Handel arias. Agonised. Suits my personality. Check out also the interpretation by Breton counter-tenor Philippe Jaroussky and the bizarre but wonderful version by the late Klaus Nomi.

I’ve also been singing Josh Groban’s You Raise Me Up; also And This is My Beloved, from Borodin’s Kismet. I love this hissing and spitting (well in my interpretation it’s hissing and spitting!) alliterative line from Beloved:

Strange Spice from the South!
