Still working on my Below the Line project, Blue Cells are monoprints on acid-free tissue paper pulled from my Gelli plate, using acrylic paints and paste paints and collaged with cutouts from a stencil I made from white cartridge paper. They don’t look like much but they’re heading in
the right direction. Sort of little dynamic gatherings. There is potential in these, I feel. Possibilities. Followed a few ideas around. Ended up looking at images of the Book of Kells. Carpet pages. Can’t make a connection yet.
Cells & Kells? Time to brainstorm, I think.
I like these moody, earthy colours, with the ghosted forms in the background (especially in the second print) with the jewel-like blue on top.
