On My Worktable Today : Blue Cells

Below the Line Blue Cells Collage II 24 February 2013Still working on my Below the Line project, Blue Cells are monoprints on acid-free tissue paper pulled from my Gelli plate, using acrylic paints and paste paints and collaged with cutouts from a stencil I made from white cartridge paper. They don’t look like much but they’re heading inBelow the Line Blue Cells Collage 24 February 2013 the right direction.  Sort of little dynamic gatherings. There is potential in these, I feel. Possibilities. Followed a few ideas around. Ended up looking at images of the Book of KellsCarpet pages. Can’t make a connection yet.

Cells & Kells?  Time to brainstorm, I think.

I like these moody, earthy colours, with the ghosted forms in the background (especially in the second print) with the jewel-like blue on top.
